Video: Hammarhead Industries on Tour; Jack Pine Built Live, Today in San Francisco.
We met with James Hammarhead at Triple Aught Deisgn in San Francisco's Dogpatch -- the final stop on his cross-country Gasoline and Caffeine Tour. He had just prepped his parts and tools tables for his Three Days, 30 Tools, One Man build exhibition. If you're not famillar with Hammarhead, he's the guy we covered last year who builds the Jack Pine bikes out of Philly.
If you're in SF, I highly recommend cruising down to meet James and enjoy the hijinks. Triple and Hammarhead are hosing a party tonight to celebrate the build and the end of their big cross-country tour. He mentioned that any friend of mutantMOTO and lover of the Jack Pine is more than welcome.
Details: Today/ Saturday August 6th at Triple Aught Design (660 22nd Street) 6pm-9pm.
Video: El Beastolerro - Late Model Sportster Gone Vintage Dirt Bike
We're back and inspired this morning by a Harley dirtbike hybrid created by Jake Hobbs. We love the idea of a taking something new-ish and simplifying it as if it were a vintage restomod.
Kudos to Jeremy Jones and Seth Huot who bring you the following video shot entirely on a Canon DSLR.

Video: Depth of Speed Episode 1 - Pangea Speed
A must-watch for lovers of bikes and short film. Depth of Speed comes to us from HBTV and director Josh Clason. The new web series focused on the independent automotive world. Episode one profiles Salt Lake City's Pangea Speed. Founded by Andy Carter, the shop has embodied a true passion for building and customizing bikes.
Video: Falcon Motorcycles Unveils Vincent Black Falcon
It is perhaps the most significant, or ambitious, mutant build of all time. Meet the Black Falcon, an ultra-fast, steampunk re-imagining of a classic Vincent hand crafted by Ian Barry of Falcon Motorcycles. The bike, built around a 1,000 cc V-twin sourced from a '52 Vincent Black Shadow, took a year to build. The Black Falcon is the third motorcycle Barry intends to build in a series he calls Concept 10.
Props to Silodrome for the share and the LA Times for the excellent editorial video.
Video: Envy and the Marketing of Roland Sands
A typical day at RSD? Perhaps it is notes our fellow bike junkies at Asphalt and Rubber. We've always been big RSD fans. Must we see Roland's personal collection of cars and bikes to boot? Torture!
The Retro-future Moto Stylings of Greg Thune
We love the beautiful bike designs coming from Greg Thune, a San Francisco industrial designer bent on funding the development of his latest creation called FivO.
See all of Greg's creations here and Read more about Greg in today's post from Pipeburn.
Video: Motus MST Prototypes Endure Closed-Circuit Testing
If you've been reading, then you now how bullish we are on what Lee Conn, Brian Case and their team have pulled together at Motus. We can't emphasize enough just how much we'd like to take a few laps on this bike. To make matters worse, just this morning, the new American motorcycle company released a new video showing its prototypes running at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama.
Tribute to Wrenchmonkee #20: Ducati 750SS
As you know from a previous post, we love the Wrenchmonkees because they build beautiful bikes. Our friends at Silodome reminded us just how much we like Monkee #20, the less-is-WAY-more naked Ducati 750SS.
As you can see, this is much more modern than your standard monkee, but as Silodrome aptly points out: you can instantly see the design language of the Danish garage running through the build, almost like mechanical DNA. Bravo yet again Monkees! We might just have to rip this off and build one of our own one of these days.
MONKEE #20 STATS: Ducati 750 SS
- Standard: Frame, swingarm, front fork, exhaust, wheels and brakes.
- WM Built: rearframe loop, fiberglass rear end, LED rearlight, seat, Modified / reshaped tank, front fender, turnsignals, headlight.
- Off shelf: Megatron mufflers, Tarozzi clip-on´s, Ducati Monster top yoke, Motogadget instrument, M-lock, K&N filters, K&N oil breather, Avon Distanzia, 160/60-17 & 120/70-17
Video: Chanel Releases Coco Mademoiselle Film or Keira Knightly, Motorcycle, Bodysuit
We teased Chanel's COCO Mademoiselle short film/commercial last month here on mM and now we have the full version:
Chanel brings its classic print ad esthetic to the web with what we hope become a video series featuring Keira Knightly as COCO MADEMOISELLE and a stunning vintage Ducati 750SS cafe racer.
We also like the music selection was money ("It's a man's man's man's world", performed by Joss Stone) as was the riding gear (see skintight racing suit and uber pricey Ruby Belvédère Marceau helmet).
Your notorious curator wishes to note that he should have become a fashion photographer.
Video: Meet Dustin Kott, Cafe Cowboy
Kott Motorcycles does more than breath new life into vintage bikes. The Los Angeles area shop, owned an operated by Dustin Kott, is turning out some seriously clean cafes.
